Hey Dad, hope ur keeping your pluck up over there. Just thinking the East Java blog post is very long. Suggest u could break it up into East Java, The Crash, Surabaya, Central Java… also, have you put a blog on Advrider about the vagaries and lessons learned of trying to get a bike repaired in Java?

All all this too shall pass. Just a hiccup (large). Bit like breaking a leg. All you can do is manage until it is fixed. Happy facebooking. Pete

Just caught up with your last few weeks on your blog. Why the hell aren’t you on your way home, I would be. You certainly have more patience than I do, or are you just not as sensible. What’s the latest on your bike?

In reply to Dan. On my bike, yes, on the Honda beat, no. These boys go over to the flat empty roads of Madura to see how fast they can go. top speed that day was 194km/hr.

You’ll have to write a white man’s guide to Surabaya somewhere Dad. Trip Adviser or Lonely Planet’s Thorn Tree perhaps?? You also seriously need to do something about your Advrider blog. At least put an entry about the crash – cut and paste from your blog maybe – and a referral to your blogsite.

Also where’s a photo of the little bike you are getting around on? Preferably with you on it. And a photo of the outside of your guest house. And you’ll have to get a group shot with all the ‘boys’ in the bike shop. Sounds like it would be nice to get a big print of a photo and frame it to put on the bike shop wall with a note to say thanks for everything “Terima kasih banyak untuk semuanya teman-teman” (thanks very much for everything friends).

Enjoy your last (hopefully) week in Surabaya. Going to go on any excursions outside the city?

Nice one Dad. Like all the photos. Very modern Javanese temples aren’t they. Seem to lack a bit of antique authenticity. Not like Borobudur or other ancient temples.

Hey Dad. Thanks for keeping up the blog, it’s a good read. A few mores photos would be good. Show us your current ride. You know soto ayam = chicken soup. And ‘baksu’ is actually ‘bakso’ which are the “mystery balls’ in the soup. For the sake of your international readership you might also consider doing some (more) edit checking each blog before posting to weed out typos. One more suggestion: perhaps this blog section should be East Java’ rather than ‘Java’ – you have a month of Surabaya and environs and Java is going to be a big place to cover in one section. Sorry for the critique. Keep up the good work!

Hey Dad, tried to call a few times tonight. Hope you found your way back to your room. Two weeks since the crash… Still a couple more until you are rolling I guess? What’s your plan for the next couple of weeks? Gonna get out of Dodge and head across to Pulau Madura? Or go climb another volcano or two? You could probably get to Borobudur and Yogya for a few days..
