Hi Keith, Thank you for the imfo. I have been to Lake toba previously. I am keen to get to Medan to find an eye doctor. Been nursing an eye infection fo rhe past few days. Next hurdle is shipping to Malaysia. apppartenly things have change recently so I’m a bit unsure on that.See what happens. Cheers Pete

I rode along your current Sumatran track in 2012, therefore I’m sharing your pain!

If you’ve got enough time left on your Indo visa, then I highly recommend some R&R on Samosir, Lake Toba.

I stopped-over on Samosir at the family-run establishment ‘Mas Cottages’. Quite basic but lovely, WITH running hot water & really good grub. Only 6 US bucks /night (in 2012). Co-ords:

2.678672, 98.843294

2°40’43.2″N 98°50’35.9″E

If you get there – give my regards to San (one of the family’s sons), a great guy; I’m wondering if he’s managed to find a wife yet?!

You are now much closer to New Delhi than you are to Sydney! Soon you’ll be doing you last ferry crossing (probably) and will be on the Continent… Enjoy the last of the archipelago while you are there. I hope the ferry crossing is straight forward and no mucking around.
