Hi Pete...didnt realize you'd left a reply here, only just logged back on here! Great to hear you are all well and your journey continued on in Europe. Very envious of what youve done and achieved. Am starting my trip early April next year and as I mentioned will keep your experiences in the back of my mind! If I have half the adventure you had I will be happy but will hopefully stay accident free! Possible to get access to your facebook page as am interested to see pics?

In reply to <a href="https://www.petesadventureride.com/2017/02/21/escape-from-myanmar/#comment-7301">Brett</a>.
Hi Brett, I haven't looked at m blog for a while it just seemed to kee me in a state of "what if's". The bike is,I presume, still in Myanmar, very sad. However, after returning to Australia and getting patched up (turned out that I had a break in my ankle that they didn't detect in Myanmar), I arranged to buy an almost identical bike in France. I spent 4 months in Europe, did 20000kms through 19 countries. Really enjoyed it all. I didn't continue the blog as I felt like I had failed my mission. Put up lots of pics on my facebook page.
I really hope you enjoy your adventure. Be prepared Asia is quite unpredictable. If you do have an accident make sure you get a copy of the police report. My travel insurance company knocked back all my claims because I couldn't supply a police report.
Any questions you may have, let me know.
Cheers Pete

Hi Pete.....wow. What an adventure. Hope youre still monitoring comments here and you are doing well? A very inspirational story.
Have just come across your blog as was doing some googling for my trip Im planning through SE Asia starting from Timor after shipping my bike across from Darwin. Youve certainly given me a few things to think about in regards to what can happen when things dont go to plan. One of the best travel blogs Ive ever read. Thanks for sharing your story as Ive made quite a few notes that will help me. I will certainly keep your experiences, good and bad, in the back of my head when travelling through there.
Did you ever hear anything further from anyone in Myanmar or the Aus embassy etc? Presume your bike is still there somewhere unknown?
Cheers. Brett

Hey Dad. Great entry. I can't help thinking of the final chapters of The Hobbit and Bilbo Baggins coming back home to the Shire after his big adventure. At least you had one foot that looked like a hobbit foot.
I can't wait for the second stanza of this grand adventure - the Europe leg!
Great to have you home though. Even though I want to see you go again so I can live vicariously through your adventure.
Love ya, Dan
PS. Have you posted on Advrider as a warning to others?
